Ohio Trip

Well, we are back from Ohio and all in one piece. We had a lot of ups and downs on this trip! While it was awesome to be back with familiar faces and we enjoyed all our visiting, Katelyn definitely saw her share of the hospital. We also came home to some bad and expensive news.

Our first episode began when Katelyn and her friend Chloe got locked in the car together. There were no windows cracked, no AC running and the temperature was over 90 degrees. All of our phones, spare keys, everything was locked in the car. Luckily we were close to the hotel lobby and the on base police, fire department and ambulance showed up in no time! The girls were locked in there together for about 15 minutes before the response team was able to unlock the car. Both of them had to be checked out in the ambulance truck afterwards. Besides being drenched in sweat and a little scared, they were both in good health and recovered just fine from the incident.

A couple of days later, Katelyn started sleeping more and more. The next day I noticed she was a little warm and then she promptly threw-up on me. Tony and I got a temprature reading and it was 103.9. Needless to say, we ran straight to the ER. They did a series of tests on her that involved blood draws, catheders, and something that looked like a torture device in order to get chest x-rays. She was not a happy baby. They discovered that she had a urinary tract infection and they gave her a very painful shot of antibiotics in her leg. She has continued a medication since then and she will be checked out at her normal peditrician today. She is going to need more tests done on her kidneys to make sure that is not what caused the infection.

And disaster number three occured once we got home. We found out there was a huge storm that passed over us Thursday and one of our surge protectors failed. It completely fried our desktop computer, cable modem, wireless router and sound system (they were all pluged in the same outlet). It's been a slow process of recovering things and working with the insurance company. Tony and I will be glad when this is all over with!

Despite all the things that went wrong, it was great to visit all our old friends! Thank you to all of you who had us over to your home, fed us and took time out of your day to visit! We miss all of our friends and our old church in Ohio. We hope to be back again soon! I will be posting some pictures of our Ohio trip real soon. We actually didn't take any pictures because we are slackers, but we have some wonderful friends who did! Thanks Ruth Anne and Shelby = ).
